International volunteering and service opportunities
This webinar looks at the range of international volunteering and full-time service corps opportunities. We explore strategies to help students find meaningful opportunities as well as ways to translate those experiences into careers with an international focus.

Participants will receive a handout with an overview of Idealist's resources as well as a "student-ready" Powerpoint presentation to offer on your campus.
Presenters
As Idealist.org's Director of Volunteerism Initiatives, Erin Barnhart develops and delivers tools, trainings, and resources for volunteers and volunteer resource managers worldwide in order to support meaningful, effective engagement. She serves on both the founding board of the Association of Leaders in Volunteer Engagement and the Oregon Committee on Volunteerism, co-hosts the Volunteers and Technology forum on TechSoup.org, and chairs the National Organizations' Volunteer Network as well as the Effective Practices Workgroup of the Brookings Institution's Initiative on International Volunteering and Service. Erin also coordinates Idealist.org Global Volunteering Fairs and developed and manages Idealist's Volunteer Management Resource Center and International Volunteerism Resource Center.
Amy Potthast is the Manager, Year of Service and Graduate Education Programs at Idealist.org. Amy is Idealist.org's main contact for its year-of-service programs, public service careers podcast, graduate education programs, the Institute on Public Service Careers, and the Portland office internship program. She has volunteered or worked in over 16 nonprofits, schools, and government agencies throughout the United States, in France, and in China. Amy developed and runs Idealist's term-of-service blog, The New Service, and is the author of the forthcoming book, A Service Corps Companion to The Idealist Guide to Nonprofit Careers.
Participants are also invited to attend our International Volunteering and Service Opportunities Expert Panel on April 29th at 1:00 pm EST at no additional cost. During the expert panel webinar, volunteering and term-of-service professionals will talk about ways to help students find the right program opportunity for both their interests and professional aspirations.
